OrangeGrove Athletics ClubOrangeGrove Athletics Club is a successful, dynamic, young athletics club based in East Belfast. The club was formed in 2009 and we now have over 70 members. Our membership is developing with particular increases amongst female members and a rapidly developing mini/junior section. Our very strong junior and minis section aims to get children into athletics at a young age, with the emphasis on fun. We also encourage their parents to try running while their children are training. It is often difficult for parents of young children to get time to exercise but this has resulted in a number of them joining the club and beginning to run regularly. The Club has 5 coaches, this expertise has assisted us in attracting, retaining and developing members of all ages and abilities. We offer a varied training programme, suited to all levels. This year our club had representation in events ... ranging from endurance ultra, marathon ... through to middle 10k,5k, 3k and sprint distances 100m. Our athletes competed in Cross Country, Track and Field and Road Racing. We run a number of events including the weekly ParkRun in Victoria Park and in 2011 organised the NI Team Relay Event. Club AwardsAnnually the club awards a number of trophies and shields to acknowledge success. We seek to recognise athletes within our club who have improved during the year and have consistently competed for the club. |
